Supplies

  • five pieces of pre-fused fabrics approximately 14 x 17” (fat quarters would be fine)
Choose a floral fabric that will be good for fussy cutting, a coordinating solid, a tone-on-tone small scale print that matches the solid and two additional fabrics that coordinate with the floral. Watch this video to help you chose your fabrics. Follow the instructions in this video for fusing your fabrics ahead of time.

  • fusible webbing, approximately 3 1/2 to 4 yards
I only use and recommend Wonder Under and Misty Fuse. (Wonder Under is paper backed and easier to manage for new fusers.)

  • Micron Pigma Pen 08
    Or any fabric marker.

  • 1 or 2 spouncers or stencil sponges
I like this one. https://amzn.to/3lCnLxF But any sponge brush is fine.

  • sticky-backed fun foam
If you can find single sheets at a craft store, one 8 x 12” sheet is plenty, but it can be hard to find single sheets. Alternately, this is a good option from Amazon though you’ll have more than you’ll need. https://amzn.to/3vFRfz7

  • 2 or 3 pieces of foam core approximately 4x4”

These will be used as mounts for foam stamps. Recycled styrofoam or heavy cardboard are also fine.

  • iron and ironing surface

  • parchment paper

  • batting
    Approximately 18 x 18”

  • fabric and fusible for backing, 18x18” (You can gather this later when you’re ready to finish your piece.)

  • 2 or 3 small bottles acrylic paint
A light and and a dark to coordinate with your fabric. Craft store paint is fine. I like Folk Art Brand from Michaels.

  • 4 - 5 paper plates for paint palettes

  • 2 or 3 skeins of embroidery floss and/or perle cotton
If you have floss in your studio, you’ll have something that will work. If you need to buy some ahead of time, pick two or three colors that coordinate with the fabrics you’ve chosen or the kit you’ve ordered.

  • embroidery needle

  • scissors, large and small

  • rotary cutter, mat and ruler

  • thimble, stitching glasses and needle threader if you normally use them

  • plastic trash bag to cover your work surface
The surface design techniques are not particularly messy. You’ll decide what works best for your space.

  • sketch book and pen or pencil
