For the Beauty of Each Hour, 24" x 18", 2006

I love doors and the mystery of what’s behind them. This quilt is really a collage of many elements and techniques. I added the “4” address number and then began thinking about other meanings of the word: four, for, fore. The tune from the hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth” came to mind as I incorporated several references to natural elements – trees, leaves, fields of wild flowers. I chose another line from the hymn for the title.

This piece was juried into “New Frontiers: an exhibit of contemporary fiber art” in 2007.
